 “She Wasn’t the Knife”

by Caelum1Infernum

She wasn’t the knife—

she was the hand that found where I already bled.

A smile laced with blame,

touching scars I buried under silence and strength.

She didn’t break me—

she echoed the voices that did.

Turned my peace into a battlefield

where I fought shadows that wore her face.

It was never really about her.

It was the ghost in her tone,

the storm in her sigh,

the way her eyes said “you’re wrong”

without ever hearing my truth.

And damn, I felt it.

Not because I loved her—

but because she felt familiar.

Like a past I never wanted to relive,

New body,

wrapped in new perfume,

I walked away limping, not because she hit me hard—

but because she reminded me

of where I still hadn’t healed.

I thought I healed myself

And that hurts

Cuts deeper than goodbye.
